The Christmas shopping season is off to a record start despite the best efforts of left-wing groups trying to boycott retailers that don't sufficiently oppose the Trump administration.

Black Voters Matter, Indivisible and Until Freedom launched the "We Ain't Buying It" campaign in early November, describing it as "a multi-racial and multi-generational consumer-led campaign to demonstrate to corporations that there are consequences for not standing up loudly for freedom and core democratic principles of fairness, justice, and liberty by hitting them where it hurts."

The campaign, promoted by far-left groups in Alabama, encouraged shoppers to "take the pledge" to boycott major retailers like Target, Amazon and Home Depot on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and, instead, buy only from local retailers that openly support left-wing ideology.

"[W] e're calling on everyone who believes in justice, equity, and real community investment to take the We Ain't Buying It pledge," according to the campaign's website. "For too long, our spending has funded companies and organizations that take us for granted, disrespect our dignity, and ignore the needs of our neighborhoods. We're done with that. This movement is about more than just saying 'no.' It's about saying 'yes' to businesses and organizations that respect us, invest in us, and stand with us."

However, the groups' efforts appear to have failed in dramatic fashion. Early reports show that the Thanksgiving weekend spending was up from last year, setting records both online and in stores with billions in sales.

According to Adobe Analytics, U.S. shoppers set a record for Cyber Monday, with roughly $14.9 billion in sales. Consumers also spent billions online on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, more than 9% higher than last year, Adobe data showed, and Salesforce estimated that Black Friday online sales totaled $18 billion in the U.S. and $79 billion globally, CBS News reported.

The campaign organizers told 1819 News via email that they plan to release an impact statement on Wednesday.
