MONTGOMERY — The Alabama House Health Committee passed a bill on Wednesday that would add vape products to the Alabama Clean Indoor Air Act and also rename the act after State Sen. Vivian Figures-Davis (D-Mobile).

The bill, SB9, is sponsored by State Sen. Gerald Allen (R-Tuscaloosa) and passed in the Senate last week.

State Rep. Chris England (D-Tuscaloosa) is sponsoring the bill in the House and presented it before the Health Committee.

England noted that the change made the act the Vivian Davis Figures Clean Indoor Air Act after the bill's initial sponsor in last year's session. He added that it would prohibit the smoking of electronic nicotine delivery systems in the same manner as the smoking of tobacco products is prohibited.

The bill passed the committee with full support and will head to the House floor.
