House Majority Leader Scott Stadthagen (R-Hartselle) is running for Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) chairman, according to multiple sources.
An election for the position will be held on March 7 at the ALGOP State Executive Committee meeting in Hoover. ALGOP acting-chairman Joan Reynolds is also running for the role.
Former ALGOP chairman John Wahl resigned his position in January to run for Lieutenant Governor.
If elected ALGOP chair, Stadthagen would still be able to keep his House seat. An ALGOP chairman candidate graphic making the rounds in recent days lists Stadthagen’s bio and conservative bona fides.

Stadthagen did not respond to queries about his potential bid for chairman.
