House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) will host a fundraising reception for the recently declared Republican candidate, Heath Allbright, as he pursues the District 11 seat in the upcoming special election.
Allbright declared his candidacy on Tuesday, the same day Gov. Kay Ivey announced the dates for the special election.
The election comes after former State Rep. Randall Shedd (R-Fairview), who was serving as the House Majority Whip, vacated his seat to join the staff of new State Sen. Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman).
On Thursday, Allbright's campaign announced a March 5 fundraising reception hosted by Speaker Ledbetter to rally support for Allbright's bid.

The event will take place Wednesday, March 5, at PowerSouth Energy Co-op in Montgomery.
