Huntsville-area Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help in identifying the person or persons responsible for vandalizing Movement Church in Madison on October 8.

As previously reported by 1819 News, the exterior of the building, including the entry doors, had been graffitied with messages targeting 1819 News president and CEO Bryan Dawson, who was scheduled to speak at the church the following day.

Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner has commented on the vandalism.

"Acts of vandalism and intimidation have no place in our community," said Turner. "Every person, regardless of their beliefs or affiliations, deserves to feel safe where they worship, work, or gather."

"We will not tolerate this type of behavior in Madison County," he continued. "Our detectives are working diligently to identify those responsible and ensure they are held accountable. To the citizens of Madison County, please know that this kind of conduct is unacceptable, and we will use every available resource to bring those responsible to justice."

"This is not who we are as a community," Turner added.

Sheriff's detectives with the Madison County Sheriff's Office are actively investigating and working to identify the person or persons responsible for the vandalism.

Anyone with information about the crime who wishes to remain anonymous can contact the Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers at 53crime.org.

The program offers cash rewards of up to $1,000.00 to citizens who furnish information leading to the arrest of felony crime offenders.
