The Trinity United Methodist Church's Child Development Center in Huntsville, where a former employee sexually assaulted multiple young children, has officially closed after months of litigation and controversy.

The church's pastor, Dedric Cowser, issued a statement to church members announcing the center's closure, stating that it was "no longer financially sustainable" to remain open.

In January, Trinity United Methodist Church's Child Development Center made headlines after it was revealed that 24-year-old Cameron K. White had abused minors under the age of 12 on several occasions at the facility. Families of the victims swiftly filed lawsuits against the center, claiming negligence in its hiring process, training and supervision. White is also being sued for his crimes.
