An illegal alien from Guatemala was recently arrested in Limestone County and charged with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12.
On Sunday, Limestone County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call regarding a suspect caught in the act of sexually abusing a child less than 12 years old. According to the sheriff's office, Limestone County Deputy Bradley Fontenot discovered that the victim's family had detained the suspect until deputies could arrive.
The suspect was initially identified as Mario Francisco Martin but was later confirmed to be Luis Lopez-Martinez, 38, of Guatemala.
According to the sheriff's office, Lopez-Martinez confessed his crime to an investigator, stating, "It is what it is." He was arrested, charged and placed on a $250,000 bond. Additionally, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed an immigration detainer on Lopez-Martinez.
