An illegal alien has been charged with assault for allegedly shooting someone at close range in Montgomery on Sunday.

Alberto Martinez-Fidel is accused of shooting James Cargill at close range with a handgun, leaving him seriously injured.

Martinez-Fidel has been charged with first-degree assault. He is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $30,000 bond, according to WSFA.

Martinez-Fidel is in the country illegally, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 

An ICE spokesperson told Breitbart on Wednesday, “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations filed a detainer on Alberto Martinez-Fidel, 46, an unlawfully present Mexican national Aug. 5, 2024, after his arrest by the Montgomery Police Department. ICE does not have any previous immigration information on this individual.”
