Several people were arrested this week in connection to illegal gaming machines stolen from a location recently shut down by Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.
According to court documents, William Patrick Humphries, 55, Eric Daniel Hurt, 39, Michael Ray, 56, Charles Allen Robinson, 52, and Charles Vanderford, 61, are charged with third-degree burglary of an unoccupied building.
The five are accused of breaking into Selma Charity Bingo on Monday and taking machines. The machines were later found at Jay’s Charity Bingo in Lipscomb, along with over 100 more illegal machines.
Selma Charity Bingo was shut down and locked up by the Attorney General’s Office last week during the execution of a search warrant. Four other facilities were also shut down. The AG’s office obtained temporary restraining orders to force the businesses to cease operations.
Marshall said the property at the facility could not be used or accessed until further orders from the Circuit Court of Dallas County. The machines were tagged as state evidence and left inside the building.
The AG's office also raided Jay’s Charity Bingo in 2023, along with 13 other illegal gaming operations in Jefferson County.
