Birmingham Police investigators determined the two men shot at The Quest Club early Friday morning shot each other.

The shooting happened around 6:30 a.m. at the LGBTQ club in the 400 block of 24th Street South. When officers arrived, they found the two suffering from gunshot wounds.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced one of them dead. The other victim was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said detectives determined the two were involved in a physical altercation that led to both opening fire. Fitzgerald told 1819 News the shooting and other crimes, including another double shooting in 2022, are cause for safety concerns at the club.
