As Democrat voters face the reality that President Joe Biden's mental decline might have cost them the election, leadership is scrambling to save face by denying they worked hard to cover up one of the worst-kept secrets on Capital Hill.

On Sunday, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) denied his party misled voters about Biden's mental health. However, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said that Schumer was furthering the cover-up he, other Democratic leaders and the corporate media have been perpetuating on the American people for the last four years.

"Con artist in chief. It's absolutely embarrassing what they've done to this country the last four years," Tuberville said Monday on Fox Business Network's "The Evening Edit." "We've all known on the Republican side and the Democratic side what's been going on in the White House. Five hundred seventy days on vacation out of 1,600? Are you kidding me? We've had other people running this country. We don't know who it is. I guess it was by committee. Look at the situation we're in right now. And it's all because we didn't have a leader in the White House."

Tuberville said Biden often had to be physically held up by other staff the few times he visited the Capital Building and would sit in silence during policy meetings with other members of Congress.

"They've pushed this narrative on the American people, convinced them that he was well… It will go down in history, Liz, as one of the biggest cons on the American people," Tuberville continued.

He blamed Schumer and U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for continuing the lie until it became clear it couldn't last another term.

"This was a total embarrassment for the American people, and it all started with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi — obviously up here, lying, you got to learn to lie to make things work," Tuberville said. "And it's just unfortunate that the American people are going to have to suffer from this… It's going to affect this country for a long, long time. It's going to take somebody like Donald Trump to come in and throw the hammer down… We had somebody that was just absolutely out to lunch running this country."
