State Rep. Ben Harrison (R-Elkmont) announced Wednesday that he will seek another term representing District 2.

Harrison was first elected in 2022.

“It’s been one of the greatest honors of my life to represent the hardworking people of North Alabama in the State House,” said Harrison. “I believe North Alabama needs representatives who will stand strong for our conservative values, fight for working families, and protect our constitutional freedoms. When I first ran for State House four years ago, I promised to fight for limited government, lower taxes, and to defend the values that make our communities strong—and my voting record shows that commitment.”

Harrison has voted to cut taxes, including the state grocery tax. He also voiced support for school choice and parental rights and for protecting the dignity of women by keeping biological males out of women’s sports and restrooms.

“I strongly believe in the American Dream and the values that made America great,” Harrison said. “Every vote I cast is guided by the belief that government should serve the people, not control them."

During his first term, Harrison has voiced concerns over options for expectant mothers, saying the state needs to support efforts to make adoptions quick, safe and more affordable.

Harrison, a lifelong resident of Limestone County, attended Owens Junior High and West Limestone High School. After graduating in 1978, he attended Calhoun Community College and Auburn University, obtaining a B.S. in chemical engineering.

Before becoming a state representative, Harrison was a Limestone County commissioner from 2012 to 2020. He was a Donald Trump delegate in 2020 and an alternate in 2024.

As a grandfather of five, Harrison said protecting future generations is a priority.

“I grew up on my family’s farm between Athens and Rogersville, where I learned the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity,” he said. “I am not a career politician—I spent years in the private sector before starting my own small business. These experiences shaped my commitment to bringing common-sense, conservative solutions to Montgomery.”

House District 2 includes parts of Lauderdale and Limestone Counties.
