Ahead of Easter Sunday, Gov. Kay Ivey delivered a message of "hope and redemption" to Alabamians.

In a video published to her Twitter account on Good Friday, Ivey urged everyone to "remember that Jesus willingly gave His life for us all."

Transcript as follows:

Today, on Good Friday and as we approach Easter Sunday, I am reminded of the profound message of hope and redemption found in Matthew 28:5-6.

It reads, “And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not: for I know that you seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen.”

These two short verses are powerful and resonate deeply with me – as I am sure it does with many of y’all.

It reminds us of the sacrificial love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

As we gather with our loved ones for the holiday weekend, let us remember that Jesus willingly gave His life for us all.

And as Easter dawns, let us rejoice in the victory of His resurrection, knowing that through Him, we have eternal hope and life.

Alabama, have a Happy Easter! I pray it brings peace, joy and the assurance of a brighter tomorrow.

May God continue to bless each of you and the great state of Alabama.
