The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) graded Gov. Kay Ivey 72.5% on its new report card of the nation’s governors.
The conservative group usually releases scorecards ranking the conservative voting records of Congress and state legislatures. This is the group’s first time grading governors. The report was released on Monday.
CPAC lauded Ivey for signing into law school choice legislation, a ballot harvesting ban, protecting minors from harmful content, a ranked-choice voting ban, a DEI ban at public universities, a bill allowing parents to access school curricula and other conservative bills.
CPAC was critical of her signing bills into law that passed the legislature almost unanimously and were backed by the Business Council of Alabama, such as establishing the Alabama Growth Alliance and new tax credit programs for workforce housing and child care.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis received a 91%. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee received an 82.5%. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp received a 75.3%. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves received a 73%.
