Friday, Governor Kay Ivey named David Hill to serve as Autauga County Sheriff for the remainder of the term ending on January 16, 2023.
Hill currently serves as the chief deputy. According to the Governor's appointment letter, his service on this short-term basis will allow Ivey's team "to identify candidates for appointment to fill the new vacancy once the term begins," according to a statement from the Governor's spokeswoman.

Ivey also made two additional appointments.
She appointed Mobile County District Attorney-elect Keith Blackwell to the District Attorney role effective January 1, 2023 because his predecessor Ashley Rich went on retirement status prior to the completion of her term.
She also named Greg Reid as Circuit Judge of the 41st Judicial Circuit, Place 1, effective January 17, 2023, which fills a vacancy left because of Judge Steven D. King's suspension. King was charged with ethics violations by the Judicial Inquiry Commission.
