WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sunday, during remarks given at the Alabama congressional delegation's prayer brunch to mark President-elect Donald Trump's forthcoming inauguration, Gov. Kay Ivey spoke about the importance of faith and prayer for Trump and his incoming administration.

Ivey urged attendees to pray daily for the president and those who serve at the federal and state levels of government.

"I'm delighted to see you all, and I'm especially glad to, together, to acknowledge our faith and to publicly pray for President Trump and his administration," she said. "We know that God is the creator of every good and perfect gift. And today we ask Almighty God to continue to protect this great country we are so blessed to call home. We ask him to give President Trump and all those who serve with him the prudence to make wise decisions to guide and direct our country."

"We know our blessings come directly from God, who is the author of liberty and freedom," Ivey added. "Let us never forget we were founded on one nation, under God. Today, we witnessed our commitment to faith and acknowledge the important place of prayer in our government. Let's commit to pray daily for the President and all those who serve our country, especially those in our armed services. I also hope to ask you to remember my administration in your prayers as well. God bless America. God bless Alabama. God bless our President. And God bless these United States of America."
