Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway announced a new program to decrease the number of traffic citations issued in the county.
The sheriff’s office partnered with Advance Auto Parts to offer gift cards to motorists with car problems such as a headlight or taillight out.
All deputies will be given gift cards to carry in their vehicles.
“We’re excited to partner with a national brand such as Advance Auto Parts to provide financial relief to citizens in Jefferson County,” Pettway stated in a press release. “This partnership goes hand in hand with my commitment to Bridge the Gap Between Law Enforcement and the Community. It shows what can happen when we partner with businesses to work together and make Jefferson County a safer place for all who call it home.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office did not return a phone call from 1819 News concerning the matter.
