U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) announced Saturday he was endorsed by Coastal 150 in his bid for Alabama's first congressional district.

Their endorsement is an important pick-up for any candidate running in the coastal Alabama region.

"Congressman Carl has consistently proven himself to be a dedicated advocate for our coastal community, and his unwavering commitment to our shared goals makes him the clear choice to represent Congressional District 1," said Coastal 150 executive director Wiley Blankenship. "Coastal 150 and our members are committed to making coastal Alabama the premier place to live, work, and play, and endorsing Congressman Jerry Carl is a crucial step in realizing that vision."

Carl said of the endorsement, "Coastal Alabama's community leaders know I've delivered real results for folks in the Gulf Coast region, and I'm proud to have their support in this election. Whether it's working to secure the border, successfully fighting back against overreach from the Biden administration, or bringing our tax dollars back home to invest in Alabama, I've actually gotten things done for this district and look forward to doing even more in the future."

Coastal 150 was founded in 2017 after the Alabama Legislature voted to take 90% of the civil penalties resulting from the Gulf Oil Spill. These funds were intended for use in both coastal counties, Mobile and Baldwin. As a result of this action, business leaders were inspired to take a more proactive position in participating in the political process.
