Former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) has filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to run once more for Congressional District 1.

Jerry Carl for Congress was filed with the FEC on August 7.

The seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), who defeated Carl in 2024. That seat could be up for grabs as political insiders predict Moore will run for U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville's (R-Auburn) seat, as Tuberville takes on a gubernatorial campaign.

Carl's team is set to make what they call "a major announcement" later this month. The campaign is set to release the details on that announcement later this week.

Carl served in Alabama's first congressional district from 2021 to 2024 before his district was redrawn to ensure a second predominantly black district.

The primary election will be held on May 19, 2026, and the general election will be held on November 3, 2026.
