Alabama’s Republican federal lawmakers are rejoicing in former President Donald Trump’s safety after what the FBI is investigating as yet another assassination attempt on the former president.

On Sunday afternoon, Trump was golfing at his course in West Palm Beach, Fla., when shots began to ring out. Details continue to roll in, but law enforcement has confirmed a few details in the would-be shooting.

According to police, during Trump’s golf game, a Secret Service agent walking on the golf course a hole ahead of where Trump was playing spotted the rifle sticking out of the fence and immediately fired four to six shots. The suspect reportedly fled and was later apprehended by law enforcement in another county. It does not appear that the suspect was able to fire a shot.

Law enforcement reported that an AK-47-style rifle, a GoPro camera, and two backpacks filled with ceramic tile were found near where the would-be shooter was located. Ceramic is used to produce high-quality body armor.

This is the second time a person has made an attempt on Trump’s life. The first was in July when the former President was hit in the ear at a Pennsylvania campaign rally after a shooter climbed a nearby roof.

Support for the former president came flooding in directly after the shooting, including Alabama’s federal delegation, who expressed ubiquitous thankfulness that Trump was not harmed.
