U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) has provided some context to the heated exchange between her and U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on the Senate floor on Thursday.
C-SPAN cameras captured the exchange, showing Britt and Murphy arguing back and forth for 12 minutes.
Britt said in an interview on Fox News Channel’s "Sunday Night in America" with Trey Gowdy that the conversation with Murphy was an example of two passionate senators on opposite sides of various issues.
“I’ll allow the contents of the conversation, to your point, to stay between the two of us. Clearly, incredibly passionate, both of us are about various issues. Many times, sitting on opposite sides of the aisle or perspective of those where you can see eye to eye with someone and have common ground, move it forward, but when you don’t, you let them know. And I think you saw that first hand,” Britt said.
