On Wednesday, the day after she served as a surrogate in the vice-presidential debate spin room on behalf of U.S. Sen. JD Vance's (R-Ohio) candidacy, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) appeared on Fox News Channel's "America's Newsroom" and offered a harsh critique of the Biden administration's foreign policy.
With an Iranian missile attack on Israel as the backdrop, Alabama's junior U.S. Senator hammered President Joe Biden for missteps that led to calamity all around the globe.
"This is what Antony Blinken said just recently this week, I do believe, right?" FNC anchor Bill Hemmer said. "He said, 'The Biden administration's strategy has put the United States in a much stronger position today than four years ago. We increased diplomatic pressure to deter and constrain Tehran and Pyongyang. Where North Korea has helped Iran over the decades and years to a degree, helping build its ballistic missile system.' Is Blinken right or wrong in whatever happens next?"
"He's absolutely wrong," Britt replied. "If you look at where we are right now, this administration has only projected weakness consistently. It started with the disastrous withdrawal there from Afghanistan. or allies believed they couldn't trust us. And then it also emboldened our enemies. You've seen it with Putin invading Ukraine. You've seen it in the Middle East with it on fire. You have seen Xi Jinping come to America and say not an 'if' but a 'when' I take Taiwan. And when we look at what is happening in the Middle East and go back to President Trump's tenure, where he achieved peace through strength by getting involved in the Abraham Accords — creating that and having stability that many people thought wasn't possible."
She continued, "You look at the sanctions, the maximum pressure strategy that the administration had that President Trump insisted upon. When Joe Biden came in and Kamala Harris, they decided to ease off those sanctions. not enforcing them to the fullest degree. If you look back, The New York Times said under President Trump's tenure that Hamas and Hezbollah were almost bankrupt. Now, with the continued oil revenues and other sanctions and money that we've lifted off of, you see Iran in such a position of strength. with the additional funding that they have, they fund nuclear proliferation, and they fund Hamas and Hezbollah, and they fund the Houthis in Yemen — the same Houthis who are using our vessels as target practice. And so listen, Joe Biden's doctrine of 'don't' means to our adversaries 'do.'"
"When you mentioned me going to the Senate floor after Netanyahu's address, I think a glaring misstep here from this administration was Kamala Harris, who wants to be our commander-in-chief not being willing to stand by our greatest ally in the Middle East, which is Israel, no doubt," Britt added. "And not showing up to that address sent shock waves. Additionally, every time this administration says we need a cease-fire, it undermines Israel's opportunity and position of strength in that region and, to me, does them a huge disservice."
