Fresh off delivering the Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union (SOTU) address on Thursday, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) appeared on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."
Despite Britt having critics on both sides of the aisle for her stylistic approach in delivering the response, her appearance during a primetime Fox News program is another sign she is a serious contender for the Republican vice-presidential nomination.
However, Britt seemed to shrug off her critics, attributing their commentary to part of getting into the "arena."
"You know, Sean, last night I told people to get into the arena," she said. "And when you get into the arena, you get arrows. They get thrown at you, but it is worth it when you're fighting for the American people, when you're fighting to make sure hard-working families, just like you said in your last segment, that they are seen, that they have a voice, that the things they are concerned about, that they're worried about, that we're actually talking about them. Things that we talk about around our kitchen table — Joe Biden seems to be detached from reality. Somebody needs to bring him back and quick."
Alabama's junior U.S. Senator blasted Biden's SOTU address and insisted Americans deserved better.
"He was angry, at best," she said of Biden. "Seemed a bit incoherent with his messaging. And then, he wasn't truthful with the American people. You know, when I'm looking at the things he said, when he finally said Laken Riley's name, finally said it, he then kind of stumbled and didn't take actual responsibility for what he has done. We know his policies, his decisions, the result of them is what we're seeing all across the country. And it is everything from fentanyl overdoses and poisonings to brutal murders. The American people deserve better. And that's all on him, Sean."
