Maine Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner is facing mounting pressure to drop out of the race following more allegations of sexual misconduct.

Politico reported Monday that Jenny Racicot, 41, claimed Platner sexually assaulted her in 2021 while they were dating. Several prominent Democratic leaders, including U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), have called for Platner to withdraw from the race.

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) took Democrats to task for their apparent hypocrisy in ignoring the other scandals that have plagued Platner’s campaign since the beginning, only to turn against him now that he is less likely to win.

“It’s pretty rich to see Democrats call for Graham Platner to drop out right before they lose the ability to replace him on the ballot when only days ago, he was their golden boy,” Britt posted on X.

“Nazi tattoo. Abusive relationships. Online chats on apps known to be preferred by sexual predators. Disparaging veterans and rural Americans. Praising Hamas. Democrats endorsed all of this when they thought he could still win. This is the current state of the Democratic Party.”
