State Rep. Rhett Marques' (R-Enterprise) campaign for Congress is getting a significant shot in the arm, as U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) will join the lawmaker for an event in Orange Beach on Friday.
Britt and Marques will hold a roundtable with local leaders about community and regional priorities at The Wharf at 2:30 p.m.
Alabama's junior U.S. Senator described Marques as "a strong supporter of President Trump" who "will always defend our Christian conservative values, champion our priorities, and elevate our people."
“Rhett Marques has my endorsement because he is the America First Winner that Alabama’s First Congressional District needs fighting for them,” said Britt. “He is a strong supporter of President Trump and will always defend our Christian conservative values, champion our priorities, and elevate our people. I am excited to campaign with Rhett in his native Baldwin County and hear from local leaders about the challenges and opportunities they’re facing. Together, we will ensure families across our great state can achieve their American Dream for generations to come."
Britt's Alabama First leadership PAC contributed $10,000, the maximum amount allowable, to Marques' campaign in August.

Former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) and Joshua McKee have already announced their intentions to seek the Republican nomination. The seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), who recently announced that he is running for U.S. Senate instead of seeking re-election.
