Former University of Alabama guard Kira Lewis Jr. returned to the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans on Monday. Lewis has been with the Birmingham Squadron, the Pelicans’ G League affiliate, since Nov. 14.

Lewis is working his way back from a knee injury that he suffered on Dec. 8, 2021. Lewis played three games with the Pelicans, averaging 13.7 points, two rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20 minutes per game.

He has played 78 games with the Pelicans since becoming the 13th overall pick in the 2020 Draft. Lewis played at Hazel Green High in North Alabama and averaged 6.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in those 78 games.

Squadron guard Dereon Seabron, who is on a two-way contract with Birmingham and New Orleans, was also recalled by the Pelicans on Monday. Seabron is averaging 16.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 34.6 minutes per game for the Squadron.

Both players were eligible to play on Monday night, but neither player saw action in the 105-101 New Orleans win.
