The Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) is demanding an apology from President Joe Biden after he proclaimed on Friday that the official "transgender day of visibility" would fall on March 31, Easter Sunday.

The announcement came simultaneously that the annual practice of youth from National Guard families designing Easter eggs "must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements."

In response, ALGOP chairman John Wahl released a statement condemning the Biden administration for the “disrespect shown to the Christian faith.”

“This weekend it became clear that the values of the Biden Administration are not in line with the values of Christianity,” Wahl said. "President Joe Biden declared that yesterday, Resurrection Day, would be celebrated as 'Transgender Day of Visibility.' Joe Biden didn't forget that we are a nation under God, or that March 31st was Easter Sunday. Instead, he chose to prioritize Transgender Day of Visibility over Easter Sunday, laughing in the face of God and disrespecting the holiest of Christian holidays.”

"The Alabama Republican Party stands in opposition to the Biden Administration's declaration. Instead, we agree with Former President Trump's statement: 'We remember the suffering and death of God’s only son and His glorious resurrection… On Easter Sunday, we proclaim with joy, Christ is Risen,'" he added.

Both announcements from Biden drew the condemnation of politicians and commentators on social media. Others observed that the Biden administration issued identical proclamations on March 31 for his entire presidency, and this year, it coincidentally landed on Easter.

Former President Donald Trump even chimed in, calling the announcements a “blasphemous declaration” and “just two more examples of the Biden Administration's years-long assault on the Christian faith.

"The United States of America is a nation founded on faith,” Wahl continued.  “The Declaration of Independence clearly states that our rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness come from our Creator. If we forsake that understanding, the next logical step is that we will lose those fundamental rights and freedoms that make us Americans.”

"The Alabama Republican Party calls on the Biden Administration to humble themselves and apologize to Christians across America for the disrespect shown to the Christian faith this Easter weekend," he added.
