The Business Council of Alabama (BCA) affiliate ProgressPAC announced on Monday that it was supporting Heath Allbright as he pursues the Republican nomination for the District 11 seat in the upcoming special election.
Allbright was the first to declare for the seat last month, on the same day Gov. Kay Ivey announced the dates for the special election. The seat became vacant after former State Rep. Randall Shedd (R-Fairview) resigned to join the new State Sen. Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) staff.
That same week, it was announced that House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) would host a fundraiser for the new candidate in early March.

The state GOP qualifying period ends on Tuesday. Retired U.S. Army Col. Don Fallin is the only other Republican to announce his candidacy.
Despite the qualifying having yet to end, BCA announced its support for Allbright on Monday, saying his business acumen would "create opportunities for local families and businesses."
"As a lifelong resident of Cullman County and a successful small business owner, Heath Allbright truly understands what it takes to drive economic growth and create opportunities for local families and businesses," said ProgressPAC Chairman Gary Smith. "Heath's firsthand experience as an entrepreneur gives him the unique perspective needed to champion policies that foster a thriving business community and a stronger workforce. With a proven track record of service and a deep commitment to the values that matter most to his district, Heath is the best choice to replace Representative Randall Shedd. He will be a powerful advocate for District 11, ensuring that pro-business priorities are at the forefront of the legislature."
