A small but vocal group of left-wing malcontents is trying to stop a Moms For Liberty (M4L) event from happening in Huntsville later this month.
U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is scheduled to speak on June 28 at the Moms for Liberty — Madison County's annual dinner at The Brewer's Cooperative at Stovehouse.
"She'll share about her efforts to reclaim our country and her battles against the woke mob," the online event page for the event stated.
Chair of the Madison M4L chapter, Emily Jones, said the response to the event has been overwhelmingly positive so far. However, some opposed to Greene and the mission of M4L are calling on the venue to stop the event.
Purple People Resistance Alabama issued a "call to action" on Facebook, encouraging its followers to call Stovehouse and demand that the event be canceled.
"Call Stovehouse and let them know that hate has no home here in Huntsville, Alabama," the post stated.
Jeremy Devito, a "progressive seeking the Democratic nomination" against U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia), shared the call to action on Facebook, adding, "We don't want MTG, We don't want M4L. Share. Call. Email. Resist. Be a nuisance, it's a great form of resistance."
Democrat groups, such as Purple People Resistance and Indivisible, have been pressuring Strong to hold public meetings in the district. Strong is also scheduled to speak at the M4L event.
"We're excited to host Congresswoman Greene at our annual dinner," Jones told 1819 News. "The feedback we've received from across North Alabama has been extremely supportive and enthusiastic. We're expecting a great turnout from the grassroots conservative movement. Congresswoman Greene has been a strong ally to Moms for Liberty for many years, and she represents so many of us who worked to ensure a Trump victory in 2024. We're excited to host her and continue influencing the parental rights movement across the country."
