Lloyd Peeples, a businessman and former federal prosecutor, announced on Wednesday that he’s loaned his 2026 House District 48 campaign $250,000.
Peeples also raised more than $19,000 from 33 local supporters, finishing the month with over $210,000 cash on hand.
“Since launching our campaign a few weeks ago, we have been humbled to see how many people have volunteered to help the campaign in a variety of ways,” Peeples said. “These early contributions are not just words of encouragement, they are an investment from people who care deeply about stronger schools, safer communities, and real economic opportunity. I’m ready to put my experience as a businessman and federal prosecutor to work for the people in this district.”
He continued, “Hard-working people in Alabama deserve leaders who understand their needs, listen to their concerns, and deliver results which improve their lives.”
Peeples is challenging incumbent State Rep. Jim Carns (R-Vestavia Hills). In his latest filing, Carns reported raising $35,000 in November with a cash-on-hand balance of $160,018.66.
