Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn has endorsed AL-6 candidate Gerrick Wilkins as he attempts to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover).
Wilkins' endorsement is the second in Alabama for Flynn, who served briefly as National Security Advisor under former President Donald Trump.

In his statement, Flynn said he believes Wilkins would prioritize Alabamians over personal enrichment while saying nothing about Wilkins' opponent directly.
"I am proud to announce my endorsement of Gerrick Wilkins for Congress in Alabama's 6th Congressional District. Gerrick is not your typical politician; he is a successful businessman with a proven track record of accomplishment and a deep commitment to the principles that make our nation great," Flynn said.
"We need representatives who keep their promises and prioritize the well-being of their constituents over personal political gain. Gerrick's dedication to bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas to Congress is precisely what our government needs," he continued.
Flynn is the most prominent endorsement for the relative political newcomer, who entered the race in October 2022. Boasting a 24-year tenure as a business leader in the private sector in the automotive industry, Wilkins believes his experience managing large-scale dealerships and helping other community-based dealers grow has given him insight into the effect "overregulation and excessive tax policies" have on small businesses.
"I wholeheartedly support Gerrick Wilkins for Congress, and I urge you to join me in backing this principled and dedicated leader," Flynn continued. "Together, we can ensure that Alabama's 6th Congressional District is represented by an individual who values the principles of freedom, accountability, keeping promises, and effective governance."
Wilkins accepted Flynn's endorsement, saying it highlights the need for "fresh perspectives and principled leadership."

I am committed to representing the people of Alabama's 6th Congressional District with dedication and integrity."
