Orange Beach Police arrested a man late Monday after he was caught continuously ramming a $19,500 sign on Foley Beach Express.
The incident was caught on camera and posted on the Mobile Traffic Facebook page.
Police first responded to a motorist assist call at the intersection of Canal Road and Foley Beach Express.
In the video, someone can be heard saying, "Holy cow, he's doing it again!" While the people taking the video were laughing, they were also concerned for their safety and the safety of others. People in the intersection were stopped, causing traffic to stall.
The presence of a patrol vehicle with blue lights flashing didn't stop the driver of the Toyota SUV from continuing to ram the sign, destroying it. The sign was a "Zero Tolerance, Underage Drinking and Drugs" sign.
Eventually, the driver was taken into custody, and no one got hurt.
Alonzo Duwayne Prim, Jr., who just turned 22 on St. Patrick's Day, was arrested and taken to the Baldwin County Jail. Prim, who is from Summerdale, is charged with first-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
