The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol division and several other agencies worked late into the night after a man drowned while attempting to help dock a pontoon boat.
The incident happened on Logan Martin Lake in St. Clair County.
Delbert Shaw, 72, of Riverside, fell into the water in a slough near Rebecca Lane on Memorial Day around 10 p.m.
Crews with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Pell City Police Department, Pell City Fire and Rescue, Riverside Police Department, Riverside Fire and Rescue and ALEA responded to search for Shaw after he failed to resurface.
His body was found at 11:46 p.m., 20 yards from where he fell into the water.
