The Spanish Fort Fire Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division responded Tuesday morning after a man reportedly crashed on the Interstate 10 Bayway and then jumped off the bridge.

According to Spanish For Fire Rescue, the man was rescued with no apparent injuries.

First responders got the call at 8:05 a.m. They arrived on the scene near the Battleship Parkway exit and found the man in chest-deep water.

Rescuers were able to harness the man and secured him with a personal flotation device. A firefighter was lowered down and lifted the man to safety. The man was taken to the hospital by MedStar EMS for evaluation.

Westbound traffic was impacted as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The portion of the Bayway has since been reopened.
