U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) defeated challenger Jared Hudson in Tuesday’s GOP primary runoff election by nearly 10 points, though it was much closer in some parts of the state.
Moore and Hudson claimed the two top spots in the May primary, beating out Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.
In his home turf of Marshall County, Marshall earned over 58% of the primary vote, followed by Moore with 17.77% and Hudson with 16.95%, according to The Sand Mountain Leader.
However, with Marshall out of the picture, the majority of Marshall County voters on Tuesday cast their ballot for Hudson over Moore.
Moore received the endorsement of one Marshall County heavy-hitter with Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth.
“Reminder to go vote today. If you are undecided on the U.S Senate race, consider my good friend Barry Moore,” Ainsworth posted on X the day before the runoff election. “He is a strong conservative, a strong believer, a successful businessman, and will do a great job.”

Marshall County’s District Attorney, Jennifer Bray, who worked with and voted for Marshall, endorsed Hudson in an op-ed with Cullman Daily.
“Jared Hudson will fight to secure the border, protect American elections, defend the unborn, crush the cartels, stop the radical gender agenda, and put working families ahead of the permanent political class,” she wrote. “… This is about whether Alabama sends someone to Washington who understands the mission. So, to my fellow Steve Marshall voters: let’s finish the job.”
Both Moore and Hudson made several campaign stops in Marshall County in the last few weeks before the election.
Hudson won several other counties, including Cullman, Blount and Jefferson counties. However, it wasn’t enough to defeat Moore, who received 55.8% of the statewide vote.
