The funeral arrangements for legendary Mobile television news anchor Mel Showers have been set.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church at 1850 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Showers’ body will lie in repose Saturday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Saenger Theatre on South Joachim Street, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Theodore.

Showers, who worked at WKRG for five decades, is remembered as a professional, unbiased journalist who was beloved by many.

He died on October 19, at the age of 78.
