In a scathing rebuke of their endorsements and policies, former U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks responded to Americans for Prosperity Alabama (AFPAL) endorsing his opponent in the Alabama House District 20 race, State Rep. James Lomax (R-Huntsville).

“I enthusiastically applaud and thank Americans for Prosperity for NOT endorsing [me] in House District 20 just as they did NOT endorse President Donald Trump in 2024!" he said.

Calling the group an open borders and cheap foreign labor advocate," Brooks pointed out that the group endorsed "cheap foreign labor advocate Nikki Haley" in 2024 and spoke to the organization's immigration efforts.

According to reports, AFP spent an estimated $31-$32 million against Trump and bragged that its volunteers knocked on millions of doors to oppose him in her home state of South Carolina, where Trump still beat her by 20 points.

“If Donald Trump is at the top of the Republican ticket, the risk of one-party rule by a Democratic Party captured by the Progressive Left is severe and would do irreparable damage to the country,” Emily Seidel, the chief executive officer, wrote to staff in a memo obtained by Politico. “The last three election cycles have painted a very clear picture of what we can expect from voters who consistently rejected Donald Trump and his impact on the Republican party brand.”

“Americans for Prosperity’s endorsement confirms that Special Interests know James Lomax is weak on border security and seeks to import cheap foreign labor that undermines the earnings of struggling American workers and their families," Brooks said in a statement to 1819 News.

“James Lomax’s vote for House Bill 210 in 2024 is a well-deserved nail in his political coffin because Alabama voters do not support diverting our education tax dollars from our kids to subsidize the college education costs of illegal aliens. Yet that is exactly what Lomax did when he voted for HB 210. Lomax gave illegal aliens a financial incentive to break our laws and come to America and Alabama. That’s the opposite of border security!" Brooks said.

Americans for Prosperity has a long history of lobbying for additional H-2B visas as well as supporting amnesty for so-called "Dreamers." The group has repeatedly called on Congress to "pass legislation that grants Dreamers the opportunity to eventually earn permanent residency based on their length of residence in the US; employment, school enrollment, or military service; and lack of a serious criminal record."

“Worse yet, it appears James Lomax traded bad border security that hurts American families for endorsements by cheap foreign labor Special Interests who have contributed more than $160,000 to his election campaigns. That stinks!" Brooks exclaimed.

“Lomax’s trade is bad for America, bad for Alabama, and worse for American families who struggle to make ends meet because they suffer suppressed wages caused by tsunamis of cheap foreign workers," Brooks concluded.

The primary election is on May 19.
