When U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) husband, Paul, was attacked inside his California residence last week, speculation ran wild as to what the assailant's motivations might have been, with both Democrats and Republicans pointing fingers.
After CNN reported Thursday that the suspect, David DePape, was a Canadian citizen in the United States illegally, U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) wasted no time in calling out Democrats over their lax border and immigration policies that ostensibly helped facilitate the attack.
“Pelosi attacker an #ILLEGALALIEN!,” Brooks wrote on Twitter. “Should be same hue & cry for every ‘normal person’ illegal alien crime victim as for #Democrat elites. Each & every one of roughly 2,000 citizens killed on American soil by illegal aliens each year deserves no less.”
To drive his point home, Brooks also slammed Arizona Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs for blaming an attack on her campaign office on the GOP.
“AZ Dem Gov candidate #KatieHobbs hypocritically blames GOP rhetoric for burglary of her campaign,” Brooks tweeted. “Turns out it was yet another crime by yet another #IllegalAlien. Perhaps #Socialist #Democrats should enforce immigration laws. The worm turns.”
