The City of Mobile is hosting a special event Wednesday to explain to residents in the proposed annexation areas how becoming part of the city would benefit them.

Representatives from multiple city departments will be on deck to explain what they do and how they could do better to support the residents.

The event, dubbed “Meet the Team,” will be held at the Mobile County Sheriff’s Posse Arena at 6449 Moffet Road from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

There will be a live DJ and activities for participants.

The city has set up a detailed website on the proposed annexation that includes maps, videos explaining benefits and information for voters.

The annexation referendum vote will be held for residents in the proposed areas on Tuesday, July 18.

If annexation is successful, Mobile would become the state's second-largest city and would receive more federal dollars.
