A Mobile County court granted permission for a teacher charged with aggravated child abuse to leave the country.
WKRG reported that Collins-Rhodes Elementary teacher Tracy Walker will be allowed to go to the Bahamas from July 25 through August 1. According to court documents, the trip was scheduled before her arrest.
Walker was charged after a four-year-old child was hospitalized due to alcohol intake.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said the child was sent home from school on April 28 with a blood alcohol level of .29. The child was placed in the ICU and was released on April 30.
The child told detectives her teacher had given her a drink that made her feel sick.
Walker has pleaded not guilty and is considered innocent until proven guilty.
