A pregnant mother is mourning the loss of her two children after an apartment fire in Montgomery.
WSFA reported that an eight-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl were killed in the fire at Woodley Terrace Apartments.
The fire occurred Sunday morning. Fire officials confirmed Sunday that the boy did not survive. The girl and a 64-year-old man were transported to the hospital, where they later died.
A memorial has been placed outside the apartment building.
A spokesperson for the family said the mother of the children is seven months pregnant and not ready to speak publicly. The family is asking for prayers.
Montgomery Fire Rescue responded to the fire. Residents said they never heard smoke detectors.
