Kristy Siple, the mother of slain five-year-old Kamarie Holland, has pleaded guilty to human trafficking in the first degree after the state dropped charges of first-degree murder for Holland’s killing.
Siple was charged alongside Jeremy Tremaine Williams, the man who pleaded guilty to killing and posthumously sexually assaulting Holland earlier this month.
Siple initially entered a not-guilty plea on all charges. However, after the state dropped the murder charges, Siple’s attorney filed an official guilty plea for first-degree human trafficking, a Class A felony. She will remain in jail without bond until her sentencing, which has yet to be set.
Class A felonies carry the most extreme punishments possible in Alabama. Class A felonies are punishable by life in prison or a definite term of 10 to 99 years. Since the state dropped the murder charges, SIple is not at risk for the death penalty.
On Dec. 13, 2021, Siple, initially reported by the sheriff's office as Christie Hoskins, called to report her daughter, Kamarie Holland, missing. According to the original report from the Russell County Sheriff's Office, Siple claimed she awoke early in the morning to find that her daughter was missing from home.
Later that day, police found Holland's body in an abandoned house in Phenix City. Police said that she likely died of asphyxiation, and there was evidence of sexual abuse.
Shortly after, Williams was arrested and charged. Williams had previously lived in the house where Holland was found. Weeks later, Siple was extradited from Georgia after a judge issued warrants for her arrest. Law enforcement did not initially announce Siple was a suspect in the case.
Before her arrest, Siple told WTVM that she was not involved in the murder. Two days after Holland was found, Siple appeared on TV donating the toys of her now-deceased daughter. “I’m coping, I’m making it,” Siple said.
“I am a mommy, and I didn’t have nothing to do with this," she added. "She was my life. I lived for her daily.”
Williams pleaded guilty on March 13, with his sentencing scheduled for April 8.
Williams was charged with capital murder in the course of a kidnapping, capital murder in the course of rape, capital murder in the course of sodomy, corpse abuse, human trafficking and producing child pornography.
Court documents claim Williams "recorded himself raping and sodomizing" Kamarie after her demise.
Williams has a history of child abuse accusations. In 2009, Williams was charged with burning a three-year-old child, of whom he was the guardian, with hot water so severely as to cause him serious injury. Williams was found not guilty of the charge. He was also a suspect in the death of a one-year-old in Alaska but was never charged.
