Freshly sworn-in FBI director Kash Patel named former Secret Service member Dan Bongino his deputy director on Monday.

Bongino has risen to fame as a conservative talker and podcaster as host of "The Dan Bongino Show."

"I've spent my life in public service, beginning with the NYPD and continuing through my time as a Secret Service agent, working under both Republican and Democrat administrations. I've witnessed firsthand the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women in these agencies who serve with integrity and honor," said Bongino.

Bongino, a self-proclaimed Yankee raised in Queens, N.Y., has recently become a big Auburn sports fan since his daughter Isabel is on campus.

Spending a lot of time at Auburn has led to a friendship between the new FBI deputy director and Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl, who congratulated Bongino on his new role.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) also congratulated Bongino, who replied with a "WDE" to the former Auburn football coach.

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) also congratulated Bongino and called him a good friend and "fantastic choice" for the job. The two were photographed together at an Auburn game in 2023.
