The Wedowee Police Department is continuing undercover sex stings after receiving training from Covenant Rescue Group. The latest arrest was an illegal immigrant from Mexico.
Alexander Rojas Roblro is charged with two counts of first-degree human trafficking, electronic solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a child for sex.
Investigators posed online as a 15-year-old girl, and they say Roblro traveled from Anniston to meet the fictitious girl at a local hotel.
Roblro was taken into custody and booked into the Randolph County Jail.
The arrest followed a sting that led to five arrests.
Investigator Madison Sparks told 1819 News the jail is working with immigration authorities to place an ICE hold on Roblro. He said Wedowee Police will continue to set up sex stings to put suspects behind bars.
"We're extremely grateful for the training and knowledge we received from Covenant Rescue Group, and would like to thank CRG and all agencies that assisted in making this operation a success," said Sparks. "These arrests go to show that it doesn't matter how small a town you live in, this kind of evil exists everywhere."
He continued, "We will continue combating this and ensuring that the safety of our children is a top priority. We want to urge parents to please talk to your children about the risks of online gaming and chatting; we ask that parents monitor what their kids do on ALL electronic devices."
Having that conversation with your children and monitoring their activity is where helping prevent these crimes starts.
Roblro is considered innocent until proven guilty.
