Republican vice presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) delivered what many are calling a historic performance during the first and only vice presidential debate Tuesday night against his opponent and Kamala Harris' running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
The topics ranged from the economy and abortion to the crisis at the southern border and the Middle East, as the two candidates made their case during the 90-plus-minute debate for why they and their running mate deserved voters' support.
U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) was in the spin room Tuesday following the debate, where she lauded Vance's performance.
"I think that was one of the best debate performances in American history," Britt told a reporter. "He [Vance] was collected, he was on point and he was very direct."

Britt said she was honored to know Vance not just as a colleague but as a "person" and "friend."
"Tonight, he laid out a vision, and he showed why Donald Trump needs to be back in the White House," she said. "So I thought he did an excellent job. I thought people got the opportunity to get to know my friend and to get to know why I believe in him and know that he is ready to be the vice president and obviously to serve."
Later, in an interview with Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity, Britt said, "I think it was a master class from JD Vance about how to make sure the American people know what's at stake. And they have hope about the vision of Donald Trump that he's so well executed. And he also put it back on Kamala Harris, reminding voters over and over again that they're not better off than they were three and a half years ago, and that she and Tim Walz have no plan to make that the case. I thought it was excellent."
Britt also took Walz to task over his economic claims and accusations that President Donald Trump and Vance were against in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Tim Walz told Americans “the economy works best when it works for all of us.” Yet — right now the economy isn’t working for hardworking American families. And it’s because of the radical far-left policies that Kamala Harris has put into place for 3.5 years.

Governor Walz claimed that Republicans want to take away IVF access — that couldn't be further from the truth.@realDonaldTrump strongly supports continued nationwide access to IVF. But two weeks ago, Democrats blocked @tedcruz’s and my IVF Protection Act for the second time.

Britt told Hannity that Vance's answer regarding pro-life issues showed how he and the Republican party value children and families.
"We heard him talk about childcare. We heard him talk about resources. Heard him talk about IVF, you know, really showing that the Republican Party is the party of families, the party of parents, the party of hard-working individuals."
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and U.S. Reps. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) and Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) also praised Vance's "master class" handling of the debate and declared him the clear winner.
Imagine having a worse debate than the one that forced @JoeBiden not to seek reelection to President of the United States...that's what @Tim_Walz has achieved tonight. @JDVance with a master class. #MAGA

Senator Vance did a fantastic job tonight. Again, just like in the last debate, it was clear which side the moderators were on. But the American people see through that. We just saw the next Vice President and it’s not Tim Walz.

Tonight, we saw why President Trump picked JD Vance as his running mate. Vance was the runaway winner in the Vice Presidential Debate. Despite facing noticeable bias from the moderators, Senator Vance did an excellent job expressing how the Harris-Walz ticket is out of step with…

Both candidates encouraged their supporters to vote in the November 5 general election, just 34 days away.
