The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) Annual Report Card is out, and Orange Beach City Schools is celebrating ranking number two in the state, only behind Mountain Brook City Schools.
Orange Beach scored a 98, and Mountain Brook scored a 99. Orange Beach has only had a school system for three years.
“This success belongs to our students, whose dedication sets a new standard; our teachers and staff, whose daily commitment drives performance; our administrators, who lead with focus and purpose; our Board of Education, whose governance supports achievement; and our parents and community, who remain strong partners in education,” said Superintendent Randy Wilkes. “This is truly a shared accomplishment for the entire Orange Beach community.”
The rankings include all 149 traditional and charter school systems.
Tying for number three on the list are the Vestavia Hills City School System and the Saraland City School System, both with a 97.
Birmingham City Schools is also celebrating after receiving the highest grade ever on the report, a 77.
“Because of the hard work of our educators and outstanding family and community support, our scholars are growing academically,” Superintendent Mark Sullivan said. “They have visions for bright futures, and at Birmingham City Schools, we are helping make their visions a reality.”
BCS also reduced the overall number of schools with an “F” letter grade from 15 schools to one.
