The Orange Beach Police Department is investigating two deaths in the 2400 block of Perdido Beach Boulevard.

Officers responded to the location around 2:45 a.m. Thursday and found Alexis White and Kenneth Booth, Jr., deceased.

Booth, a deputy in Cullman County, and White, a dispatcher, were both shot to death.

White's friend, Jamie Roberts, said White was loved by everyone who knew her. She asked for prayers for the family.

"This absolutely breaks my heart," said Roberts. "Lexi was the sweetest soul."

The Cullman County Sheriff's Office said it appears an argument between the two escalated to Booth shooting White. They confirmed the two were in a dating relationship. Booth then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.

“Our family here at the Sheriff’s Office is devastated," said Sheriff Matt Gentry. "We are all in shock and saddened to our very core. Our hearts go out to the families of all those involved. I would ask that everyone join me in praying for the families and for everyone here at the Sheriff’s Office."

White worked for the sheriff's office since she was 16 years old.

"She was a charter member in our Youth Leadership Academy, and was involved in every one after that – either as a participant, or coach," Gentry continued. "There are not enough words to express what she and her family mean to me. I am literally heartbroken. I feel like Lexi is one of my own kids."
