While on CNN’s "State of the Union" this weekend, U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) blasted Alabama’s new congressional map, calling it “completely, totally ridiculous.”

On Twitter, Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) fired back at Pelosi, saying, “Thanks to Speaker Pelosi’s leadership, America is tanking in debt, families have to spend $13,000 more a year, and criminals are running our streets. Alabama is doing better than the Feds because we don’t take advice from liberal activists like Nancy.”

Speaking to 1819 News, Ledbetter doubled down on his comments.

"[Pelosi] is the last person we need to be listening to in Alabama," he declared. "As Speaker, she ran up the federal debt to $32 trillion. It's become a warzone in her district, and she's trying to tell us how to run business?"

Ledbetter believes Pelosi's criticism of Alabama's proposed congressional map is unwarranted.

"We created an opportunity district. That's what the court asked us to do. I think the way the districts were drawn, there is opportunity there," he explained.

Ledbetter concluded, "We don't need no advice from Nancy Pelosi."
