According to a new poll conducted by Morning Consult, nine out of the top 10 governors with the highest approval ratings were Republican. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey ranked seventh.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Barker (R) has the highest approval rating in the country at 74%, followed by Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) at 73% and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) at 70%.

Morning Consult listed Ivey’s approval rating at 60%, higher than every single Democratic governor in the United States.

The only Democrat in the top 10 was Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, whose approval rating was 59%.

Among the most unpopular governors in the country were Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) at 40% approval, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) at 42% and Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) at 47%.

The Morning Consult surveys were conducted from July 1 to September 30 among random samples of registered voters.

Ivey will be up for reelection in November, facing Democrat Yolanda Flowers and Libertarian Jimmy Blake in the general election.
