With roughly 350 days until Republican primary voters head to the polls, an eternity in an election cycle, GOP U.S. Senate hopeful Attorney General Steve Marshall has a good head start, according to a recent Remington Research Group survey.

In a field that includes Marshall, 2024 AL-2 congressional candidate Caroleene Dobson and U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), Marshall leads a stronger-than-expected Dobson, followed by Moore, with nearly half of the respondents "undecided."

  • Steve Marshall: 28%
  • Caroleene Dobson 13%
  • Barry Moore 10%
  • Undecided 48%

In a slightly more crowded field that does not include Moore, but instead includes Auburn head basketball coach Bruce Pearl and Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, who recently announced he would not seek the U.S. Senate, Marshall maintains a lead.

  • Steve Marshall: 21%
  • Will Ainsworth: 13%
  • Caroleene Dobson: 9%
  • Bruce Pearl: 9%
  • Undecided: 48%

In a head-to-head race between Marshall and Moore, Marshall also leads Moore.

  • Steve Marshall: 37%
  • Barry Moore: 11%
  • Undecided: 52%

The survey, provided to 1819 News, was conducted from May 12 to May 13, of 505 likely Republican primary voters, with a margin of error of ±4%.

As of press time, Marshall and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson are the only two formally declared U.S. Senate candidates.
